The Taser C2 operates on a principle known as EMD (electro-muscular disruption), which causes an effect called NMI (neuro-muscular incapacitation).  So what do all those fancy words really mean?  Well, the Taser C2 relies on the fact that our body’s nervous system is controlled by small electrical pulses.  The taser delivers a 50,000-volt electrical charge, itself in the form of pulses.  These pulses interfere with the pulses controlling the nervous system and cause the NMI effect.  The actual effect of NMI is that it causes the muscles to contract uncontrollably, effectively incapacitating your target.

This effect is different than the effect delivered by a regular stun gun, so don’t confuse tasers and stun guns.  A stun gun causes uncontrollable spasms, and relies on eventually tiring the target to the point where they are disabled - this can take some time.  A taser, however, acts almost instantaneously.

The Taser C2 uses a compressed gas cartridge to deliver a projectile that contains a set of two electrodes.  These electrodes remain attached to the taser via a set of small, thin wires.  The Taser C2 can be used from a distance of up to 15 feet, which is the length of the wires.  The C2 will deliver a 30-second charge when fired, even if dropped.  This means that after hitting your target you can drop the device and have plenty of time to escape your attacker.  And don’t worry about leaving your valuable taser behind - send a police report to Taser International if you ever have to discharge and leave behind your taser and they will send you a FREE replacement.  You can’t argue with that for customer support.

The Taser C2 also features an optional built-in laser sight for better targeting - just like the police and military sniper rifles.  This laser sight works day or night to allow you to pinpoint your intended target.  One thing to keep in mind about the laser sight is that it cannot be added to the Taser C2, you must order the model with the built-in sight.

You might be wondering what happens if you fire and miss your target.  Well, the Taser C2 won’t leave you defenseless.  It has a second set of electrodes, which allow it to be used as a contact stun gun.  So if you don’t have time to flee your attacker or you fire and miss, you can still use it up close as a regular stun gun.
