Stun guns don’t cost very much these days, and they can greatly enhance your personal security if you find yourself faced with an attacker. Stun guns are designed to be used up close - they require personal contact with your attacker, so they’re a last line of defense against an attack. Stun guns work by delivering a high-voltage (between 80,000 and 200,00 volts) electrical charge when placed in contact with your attacker’s body.
A 2-3 second shot with a stun gun will usually completely disable an attacker. The high voltage electical charge interferes with the body’s electrical system, causing your attacker to undergo severe muscle spasms. These mucscle spasms quickly tire your attacker, thus disabling them.
