Protect yourself with a personal alarm while jogging or traveling

One way that you can protect yourself when you are out walking or jogging is to carry a personal alarm. These are small, loud alarms that you can set off by pulling a strap or pushing a button. Some are disguised as flashlights (with a working light!), and some also contain mace pepper spray. Look for something that makes a lot of noise to attract attention and scare your attacker away (120dB or more).
If you travel on business or for pleasure, a personal door alarm can help protect you from potential burglars or attackers. Most of these are small alarms that are designed to hang on the door or the doorknob and sense the movement of someone trying to open the door. Some are shaped just like a doorstop, and are placed under the door and sense the extra pressure when someone trys to open the door. Again, look for something that makes a lot of noise - ideally you want to scare your attacker away and perhaps you’ll even attract enough attention that someone spots him and can give a description to the police.
